Generations of Compton residents have been denied equal opportunities, which are crucial for upward mobility. MelB Alliance is devoted to rectifying this inequality through targeted initiatives. By enhancing access to resources and opportunities, we aim to unlock the potential of our community and foster an environment where everyone can thrive.
1. Homeownership and Wealth Gap
Approximately 39% of Compton residents are homeowners, indicating a majority of residents rent.
The racial wealth gap persists, with Black households having a median household wealth significantly lower than White households nationally.

Unemployment and Education
The unemployment rate in Compton is approximately 12%, and 20.7% of residents are below the poverty line, highlighting the potential benefits of education and workforce development programs.
